30 year old Joseph is a video game producer. Born in Budapest, Hungary he has lived all over the world but now lives in Solihull, Birmingham with his girlfriend.

How would you describe your style of cooking?

“A messy style of cooking focusing on flavours and bringing people together. A combination of traditional Hungarian, Transylvanian and world cuisine.

My dishes are heavily inspired by Hungarian and Transylvanian tradition, I try to recreate my family’s signature dishes with a modern twist on them. In my cooking I specifically take inspiration from my grandparents and my dad, who taught me everything about cooking and flavours.”

What is your earliest cooking memory?

“I’ve spent my childhood in the kitchen, constantly learning how my grandparents prepared their meals using old traditional recipes passed down through generations from Hungary and Transylvania. My earliest memory is probably going out for truffle hunting with our truffle hunter dogs and spending days in the forest foraging unique and rare ingredients from nature.”

Why did you enter MasterChef?

“To step out of my comfort zone and try challenge myself in the field of cooking. Cooking has always been part of my life and to share the food of my childhood with John and Gregg is something I feel very lucky to be able to do.”

What is your food dream?

“My absolute food dream is to try all the flavours and ingredients on earth and learn about other cultures through their meals and dishes. A big dream I know! First off, I’d love to create a Hungarian style community cooking workshops for people sharing my passion and family recipes.”
