That’s a good question… I think it’s down to my family. I said ‘no’ repeatedly but they’re huge fans of the show. Cooking isn’t my thing so I’m jumping out of my comfort zone, which is something I love to do and that is the main reason why I signed up. What was it like walking into the MasterChef kitchen? It was daunting, but at the same time it was inspiring. You see these guys who are at the top of their profession and they’re about to judge us and you’ve got to step up to the mark. How have you prepared to take on the challenge? Preparation! Ha! There’s been no preparation for this, I don’t really cook. I’ll be honest with you, my missus has to write out everything I’ve got to do. Pray for me! What do your family think of your cooking? There’s a common trend coming here isn’t there. My family know I can’t cook! If I do it’s because my missus has got to work late then I cook a meal that I’m used to making. It’ll usually be tuna and pasta. It literally takes me 25 minutes. Get that done, slap it on the kids’ plate and Bob’s your uncle! Favourite dish to cook at home? My favourite dish would be a good steak, but I can’t cook it, so it’s got to be tuna and pasta. What’s your desert island dish? My desert island dish is a good pizza. I’m a pizza fiend. The messed-up thing about it though, is that I’m lactose intolerant and I always take the hit on a pizza. The best pizza is pepperoni and pineapple – the old Italians are rolling around in their grave right now. What are the three things you always have in your fridge and why? Butter - because you can put that on some toast - a couple of beers and yoghurt. I love yoghurt. AboutCelebrity MasterChef is back on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday 9 August at 9pm to 10pm.
