World Cup 2023 Podcasts and additional programming

Available on BBC Sounds, 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast will focus on the World Cup every day from Monday 17 July. The podcast will feature match reaction from Down Under, insight from inside the England camp and the biggest names from the women’s game, including Ellen White, Steph Houghton and Fran Kirby.

Also on BBC Sounds, Jill Scott’s Coffee Club will feature a host of Lionesses as you’ve never heard them before. Lucy Bronze, Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, Lauren Hemp and England head coach Sarina Wiegman are all guests in the second series of the popular podcast.

Alongside its unrivalled radio commentary, 5 Live Sport will feature regular World Cup programmes and report daily from the England camp. The coverage kicks-off on Monday 17 July with Gabby Logan hosting the Ultimate World Cup Preview show, available on BBC Sounds. Ellen White, Steph Houghton, Fran Kirby and Karen Bardsley will be part of the 5 Live team throughout the tournament.

At 10.40pm on Wednesday 19 July, fans can indulge in their World Cup excitement with a special preview programme airing on BBC One. Once the World Cup kicks-off, highlights from all 64 World Cup games will air in regular shows on BBC Three and BBC Two.

From 17 July, World Football at the Women’s World Cup will see BBC World Service Sport’s Mani Djazmi, Maz Farookhi and Katie Smith go behind the scenes with all 32 teams in Australia and New Zealand. Airing episodes three times a week, the podcast will cover the global story with the colour, drama, sounds and stories through the voices of the players, coaches, fans and people who are involved in the tournament.

Gabby Logan, Reshmin Chowdhury and Alex Scott, who will also work as a pundit, will lead BBC coverage across TV and iPlayer, while Juliette Ferrington and Vicki Sparks lead BBC Radio 5 Live’s team in Australia.

BBC Sport coverage will host a mix of current and former greats of the English game.

Euro 2022 winner Ellen White, former Lionesses captain Steph Houghton and England’s most-capped player, Fara Williams, will all provide expert analysis throughout the tournament. With over 230 caps between them, England legends Rachel Brown-Finnis, Anita Asante and Karen Bardsley will also return to the BBC’s live coverage of international football.

Our Lionesses will be joined by France great Laura Georges, Arsenal Head Coach Jonas Eidevall and Lewes Head Coach Scott Booth.
