The BBC has released first-look images for brand new six-part thriller Boat Story, starring Daisy Haggard (Back to Life, Breeders) and Paterson Joseph (Vigil, Noughts & Crosses), alongside Tchéky Karyo (Baptiste, The Missing), Joanna Scanlan (After Love, Notes on A Scandal), Craig Fairbrass (One Piece, Villain and Muscle) and Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, House of the Dragon). Written by Harry and Jack Williams, the new series is produced by award-winning All3Media production company, Two Brothers Pictures in association with all All3Media International. The series will be on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and on Amazon Freevee in the US and Germany.

The first-look pictures feature unsuspecting leads Janet (Daisy Haggard) and Samuel (Paterson Joseph) as they clutch on to a haul of illegal drugs found on a shipwrecked boat. The pair can’t believe their luck as they agree to sell it and split the cash. But on their tail is a sharp suited gangster known as ‘The Tailor’ (Tchéky Karyo).

At its heart, Boat Story is an action-thriller about two ordinary people whom the world has turned its back on, and whether they’re willing - or desperate enough - to do something crazy to get what they want in life. Pushed to the very edge, can they trust each other and get away with their lives and the money?

Boat Story embodies twists and turns with character-driven, surprising storytelling. Off-beat humour contrasts with high-octane action sequences against the spectacular backdrop of the beautiful, windswept Yorkshire coastline.

Boat Story is a Two Brothers Pictures (an All3Media company) production for the BBC. The series is written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing, Baptiste, The Tourist), who alongside Christopher Aird (Baptiste, Liar, The Tourist), Sarah Hammond (Back to Life, Fleabag) and Daniel Walker (The Tourist) serve as executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures, with Tommy Bulfin and Nawfal Faizullah as executive producers for the BBC. Matthew Bird (Isolation Stories, Strangers) is producer, and Harry and Jack Williams directed block one. Alice Troughton directed block two and Daniel Nettheim directed block three. International sales are handled by All3Media International.
