We all have our own traditions when it comes to Christmas morning, but many might be surprised to learn that the most popular dish people are cooking up on 25 December is fluffy American pancakes.

The BBC has revealed the top festive recipes from BBC Food across Christmas Day and Christmas Eve 2022. Pancakes are on the menu alongside Yorkshire puddings, which have taken the top spot for three years running now, red cabbage, yule log, and even a Christmas pavlova making its way onto the nation’s Christmas menu.

And once Boxing Day arrives leftovers are finding new homes in pies, curries and soups - with turkey curry and turkey and ham pie both popular once again this year. Plus nothing goes to waste with even the trimmings finding their way into a parsnip soup.
