In a time that has left many hungry for weddings and big family gatherings, BBC Asian Network is serving up its very own on-air Big Asian Wedding to celebrate the summer months that usually facilitate some of the biggest Asian Weddings across the UK and the world.

Before the public have a chance to make their own choices, seven of the biggest wedding DJs across the UK including DJ Kye, Bobby G and DJ Raj, have teamed up with a panel of your favourite Asian Network DJs and presenters - including Harpz Kaur, Kan D Man and PHS - to create a list of the 50 most popular tracks played at Asian wedding receptions.

From there and beginning on 19 July, BBC Asian Network Breakfast will open up the vote to listeners, Asian music fans and wedding lovers in general, who will have three votes to finalise the Ultimate Asian Wedding Playlist, which will include the overall number one track that can get anyone onto the dancefloor!

The public will have two weeks to participate in the station first, with the vote also closing during the Asian Network Breakfast Show on Friday 30 July 2021 at 10am.

Before the final reveal, Asian Network will keep up the wedding mood throughout the months of July and August, with wedding features across shows and DJs across the scene providing themed mixes for Mehndis, first dances and of course dancefloor bangers. All of the mixes will be available on BBC Sounds, for listeners to use to soundtrack their own events.

During the voting period, BBC Asian Network will also ask listeners for their own wedding stories, pictures and videos to contribute to a special BBC iPlayer and Red Button programme, The Ultimate Asian Wedding Playlist, which airs on Monday 30 August and will follow the final on-air countdown.

Finally, The Ultimate Asian Wedding Playlist will provide the soundtrack to your Bank Holiday Monday (30th August) as Haroon Rashid and Nayha will present a five-hour live countdown (12pm - 5pm) of the Top 50 tracks chosen by the public. The Top 10 tracks will also feature as part of the previously mentioned BBC iPlayer programme, which will also gather contributions from Asian Network presenters, including their best wedding stories and a special chat with the number one artist from the countdown.
