From today, listeners with PS5s can enjoy live and on demand radio from the BBC’s national and local stations, music mixes curated by experts, artists and special guests, and a wide range of award-winning podcasts. This addition follows a record-breaking start to the year for BBC Sounds, with more people than ever using BBC Sounds and a record 405 million plays of radio, music and podcasts between January-March 2022.

PS5 users can discover something whatever their mood on BBC Sounds - whether it’s the biggest tunes with Radio 1 Anthems, to stress-busting classical music in The Mindful Mix, along with music mixes from some of the BBC’s most loved names like Louis Theroux and Stacey Dooley. Plus, there’s a huge range of hit podcasts - from journeying into the dark undergrowth of modern America in The Coming Storm, or catching up with the latest news in Newscast and Ukrainecast.

Pushpa Reddy, director of product management, BBC, says: “Record numbers of people are using BBC Sounds, and launching on PS5s makes it even easier for our listeners to enjoy brilliant live and on-demand radio, music and podcasts from the BBC. Whether it’s on a TV, smartphone, smart speaker or on the web, we want to be there wherever and whenever people want to listen.”

BBC Sounds is available on PS5s now. To add it to the apps library and make it available to use directly from the home screen, users need to go to the Media tab on their home screen and select it from the All Apps section.
