How did it feel when you found out you were a finalist in Project Icon?

Being in the final was honestly so surreal! I didn’t even think I’d make it on the show, never mind to the final! I’ve had a lot of people doubt me as an artist and a person so I went on the show with no confidence in myself; every achievement and piece of feedback I received was a great success and a massive learning curve for me.

You go on quite a journey throughout the series. What was in your opinion, the most valuable feedback that you received?

The most valuable feedback I received was from Becky Hill! I told her that I really struggle with my lisp and it impacts on my speech and vocal performances. She told me that my lisp makes my vocals recognisable and true to me and that I shouldn’t try and hide it.

What was your most memorable moment?

My most memorable moment was definitely in episode 4 when filming the music video on the bar. That was the moment I felt like a true artist and I was the happiest I had been throughout the whole show. I felt like I could just let go and not worry so much about what I looked like because I was enjoying myself and that’s all that mattered.

What did you find the most challenging aspect of the competition?

The most challenging thing for me wasn’t even the challenges set by the judges, it was competing against other artists! I’m so used to supporting artists and making sure we all achieve. This was such a different environment than what I was used to and most of the time that was the thing that may have caused me to mess up on the actual challenges.
