Rick Astley’s global cultural phenomenon ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ has exceeded a staggering one billion views on YouTube – a landmark achieved close to the 34th anniversary of the track’s original release on July 27, 1987.

Astley, who is signed to BMG for publishing and recordings, said on this new achievement, "I am kind of a big deal."

‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ was a smash hit when it was first released as Astley’s debut single in 1987, shooting to Number One in 25 different countries, including five weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart.

Combining its status as a certified hit in the 80s, with its new life throughout the internet era thanks to classic songwriting, a meme-worthy video full of ‘80s fashion and killer dance moves, and the emergence of Rickrolling, the single has established itself as a rare viral sensation.

Commemorating the achievement, Rick Astley will release a new ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ limited edition signed, numbered, and colored 7” vinyl single, together with the Pianoforte version of the song, originally featured in his latest studio album The Best of Me in 2019. Astley will soon also release a new mini-documentary about the video.

Returning to the music scene in 2016, Astley had a remarkable comeback following the release of 50, his first album released via BMG, which saw him hit Number One for the first time in almost 30 years. Since then, he has released two Top 10 studio albums with the company, Beautiful Life (2018) and The Best of Me (2019).
