Bon Iver honoured with special day in the US

Bon Iver have been given the honour of their own day today (July 22) in the U.S.

Justin Vernon and his crew will be given the key to the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin by Mayor Tom Barrett before the start of their international tour tonight.

Frontman Vernon recorded his debut offering, ‘For Emma, Forever Ago’, in an isolated cabin in Milwaukee back in July 2007 and they have since followed-up with this year’s self-titled ‘Bon Iver’ album.

The Mayor’s proclamation reads: "Bon Iver's music embraces Justin Vernon's Wisconsin heritage, as he has become an international ambassador for both Milwaukee and Wisconsin, while they travel across the world playing music and interact with national media."

"The City of Milwaukee joins supporting fans to enjoy the entertaining performance of Bon Iver and commends the band for their musical accomplishments.”
