Alt-pop artist Eliyanah's latest raw and cathartic offering, 'Somebody Else', delves into what it's like to handle the painful end of a long-term relationship as well as adapting to life after it. Soft grooving percussion echoes through nostalgic keys, angelic vocals, ethereal harmonies and bouncing basslines, as she blends the very best of indie, pop, alternative and electronic elements.

“The song explores the complicated and painful twists of navigating a long-term relationship's end, as well as confronting yourself in its wake.” Eliyanah shares

The song was co-written with Eliyanah’s brother Simon Woodley as well as musician Ben Scott (Tom Walker, Mahalia, Ed Sheeran). Eliyanah then worked alongside producer Hugh Fogerhill and mastering engineer James Birt to bring the track to life, Eliyanah succeeds at creating a nostalgic and introspective track that resonates with all who listen.

About

True to her Christian background, her Hebrew derived name is a literal translation of ‘God has answered’, an essence woven deeply into the fabric of her music. Growing up in a musical family and the Church, she became a vital member of the congregation’s musical productions from the age of seven, and as she entered adulthood, regularly sang before crowds of over 7,000 people across the UK and Europe. That access to the evangelical world of high-end music productions gave her a true insight into how to express your love through song, and more importantly, gave her the experience you need to get to the next level in the recording studio. Crucially, she understands the space and time needed in a song to allow its constituent parts to delve deep into your soul and to trigger emotions that are not too often found in contemporary music.

Inspired by artists including The Beatles, The Carpenters, Elvis Presley, Beyonce and Britney Spears and influenced by the world of the 80’s in which her father played a great part, Eliyanah wants to reconnect her audiences with distant memories and feelings. To create that nostalgic feel for a life well-loved and remind them of those moments that influenced their past, but which also shape the future.

Outside of music, Eliyanah works in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist specialising in supporting children that have learning disabilities. This career is inspired by the love she has for her sister who has downs syndrome.
