Ed Sheeran wins the BRIT Awards' British Album of the Year prize

The 2015 BRIT Awards ceremony has now ended and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran was given the final trophy of the evening.

British Album of the Year was awarded to the amazing Ed Sheeran for 'X' by actor Russell Crowe. This is Sheeran's fourth BRIT Awards, and Alt-J’s ‘This Is All Yours’, George Ezra’s ‘Wanted On Voyage’, Royal Blood’s self-titled debut, and Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ were also up for the award.

In his acceptance speech, the superstar celebrated British music and said: "Russell Crowe, everyone! Sick! Thank you so much for this. I was really worried about this album as it took a long time to make. What I will say, though, is that it has been a great year for British music [...] this statue is wonderful and thanks for it... yeah, let's keep making music."

Sheeran also picked up the British Male title at tonight's (February 25) ceremony at the O2 Arena in London, beating the likes of fellow nominees Damon Albarn, Paolo Nutini, George Ezra, and Sam Smith. Madonna closed the show with a rendition of 'Living For Love'.
