Ed Sheeran on 'sexiest man' nomination: 'I might use it as a chat-up line'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has appeared in People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' issue and joked that he can't understand why he was mentioned because he doesn't see himself as a sex symbol

Speaking about the nomination, the 'Lego House' superstar explained that he is overwhelmed by it but isn't sure he should have been included:

“One of the reasons I said yes to being in this issue is because it’s quite funny. Utterly ridiculous! I don’t think anyone sees me as a sex symbol. I don’t know who the voting party are for PEOPLE, but thank you. It’s very kind. But I’m sure I’m the only person on this list who has a belly. Though I guess Austin Powers was considered a sex symbol, and we share similar physical-appearance qualities. I brush my teeth though."

Sheeran then opened up about his 'grooming habits' and added that he'll maybe use the fact that he was put up for the 'Sexiest Man' title, which was won by Adam Levine of Maroon 5 fame, to chat up girls:

"My other usual grooming habits are showering and a shave now and then. Sometimes I put on a suit. Or not! I get voted worst-dressed quite a lot, so I obviously don’t put much thought into it. I should probably cut down on the junk food and beer and try to have a healthier approach to life. But I won’t. I say that every year, but I like living. I like enjoying myself. I haven’t been allowed to tell anyone about being in this issue, but as soon as it’s out, I’m going to use it as a chat-up line.”
