deadmau5 and Kaskade first paired together in 2008 on “I Remember” - a genre-defining anthem which appeared on deadmau5’ seminal album random album title. Rolling Stone plugged it on their ‘200 Greatest Dance Songs of All Time’ list, with the rock bible stating, “…a collaboration between two of the biggest dance stars to emerge in the late 2000s — has an appealing modesty about it, even as it induces mass singalongs at festivals (still).” Its enduring factor solidifies itself once again with the release of “I Remember (John Summit Remix)” today, July 7 on mau5trap.
Listen to “I Remember (John Summit Remix)” here:
Hotly-tipped dj/producer John Summit makes the perfect fit to remix the song for 2023. Following his official remix of Kx5’s “Escape” featuring Hayla last year, Summit brings a fresh, celestial rhythm to the nostalgic anthem. A stylistic combination of lofty synths and deep reverb create a larger than life remix of this iconic track.
"Such an honor to remix this record,” shares John Summit, “It was truly the track that made me fall in love with dance music and kick off this whole journey for me, so to remix it 15 years later is a huge full-circle moment."
Following the return of his works for North America from Ultra Records in late June 2023, keep an eye out for deadmau5 to reissue many of his tracks and ground-breaking albums in new formats and special packaging as well as enlist a wide range of remixers to bring new life to many beloved mau5 classics.
