Birmingham Rapper Kay Kumar Releases Racy New Single 'Sexy'

Birmingham rapper Kay Kumar brings the bump and groove on racy new single ‘Sexy’.

The track arrives as Kay’s first musical endeavour since collaborating with MTV’s Naomi Hedman on sizzling summer single, ‘Live In The Moment’, last year.

Joining forces with The Famous Company once again, Kay travelled to L.A. as part of their U.K. to L.A. exchange programme, which gives talented emerging artists the chance to write and record alongside a team of award-winning songwriters and producers.

When asked about the inspirations behind the song, Kay replied: "Whilst working with the producer, Victor (Ujah), we had a few ideas in terms of musical direction. I originally intended to write a traditional 808 hip-hop style track, however, over the course of the trip, we decided to merge our separate musical styles and created something altogether quite different.”

Vibrant, upbeat, and undeniably moreish, ‘Sexy’ is a bawdy afrobeat number and soon-to-be certified banger.

Since returning to the U.K., the upcoming rapper has been in the studio recording the rest of his debut album, with a look to release his first full-length in the summer.

Although remaining relatively tight-lipped on the topic, Kay was able to divulge that the album will be centred around bringing a diverse range of genres to the table.
