28 April 2020 – ITV Studios has today unveiled its new and diverse non-scripted slate for spring and summer 2020, which is available to clients with immediate effect in response to the growing need for quality content from international partners.

The brand-defining selection spans modernising vintage cars to the royal family of Monaco, law and disorder in Dublin’s most dangerous district to rescuing Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, while a vast selection of popular and award-winning returning shows are also available.

Ruth Berry, Managing Director, Global Distribution at ITV Studios, said:

“As we make greater investments in non-scripted programming and expand the breadth of our catalogue, we’re able to offer clients some truly brand-defining titles in this new slate. Our long-standing partnerships with global buyers have enabled us to quickly adapt to new ways of working long before it became a necessity, and events like our Carbon Neutral Factual Screenings in February demonstrated that. We will be building on that success by leveraging technology to continue to connect with our buyers and understand their needs during these unprecedented times.”

Headline titles include:

Ancient Cathedral Rescue: Inside The Race to Save Notre Dame (1x60), a Windfall Films production, which is a detailed analysis of the devastating fire and ongoing work to rebuild the iconic Paris landmark. It launched on BBC4 in the UK earlier this month, consolidating 73% up on the slot average and was the fourth most watched show on the channel so far this year.

Attaboy TV’s fast-paced, informative and hugely entertaining Vintage Voltage (10x60) which follows a team of ingenious mechanics using the latest technology and engineering advances to restore, rebuild and convert popular classic cars offers a transformational treat, while Inside The Guard (5x60) from Empire Elite, follows the police of Dublin’s K-District – aka ‘The Wild West’. A gritty and hard-hitting series filmed over two years, it reveals what it’s like to do a job where your life is constantly under threat.

From Spun Gold and Whisper comes Inside Monaco (3x60), an unmissable opportunity to explore the principality, filmed over a season of exclusive events, including the Grand Prix and the Red Cross Ball, with unprecedented access to Prince Albert and members of the royal family, while there are two blue-chip documentaries from ITV Studios label, MultiStory Media on the slate. Return to Belsen (1x60) examines the legacy of the Nazi death camp and what it can teach us today, with broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby re-tracing the footsteps of his father Richard, who made a historic broadcast when British troops liberated the camp in April 1945, while Manhunt: Raoul Moat (1x60) revisits one of the biggest manhunts in British history, a seven-day police operation in search of the bodybuilder who shot three people and went on the run, vowing to ‘kill coppers’.

Meanwhile Pernel Media’s Attila the Hun (1x90/2x60) looks at the latest discoveries and whether they shed new light on one of Europe’s most enigmatic rulers. The programme aired on the Science Channel in the US recently, surpassing the channel’s slot average for the previous 12 months by 12%.

Among a host of returning content is a number of award winning shows, such as Building Giants <?b>(Windfall Films) which reveals the extraordinary innovations that help record-breaking superstructures to be built, and 24 Hours in Police Custody (The Garden), the hit series which offers an unprecedented insight into the workings of a modern-day police station.

Another true crime returner is Criminal Confessions (Shed USA & Wolf Reality), which gives viewers a unique inside look at shocking confessions while Building The Dream (True North), a look at people who are building their dream house from the ground up also returns.

The new content joins the fast-growing selection of breath-taking natural history programming on ITV Studios’ slate, including Wild Tokyo, the exploration of animal life thriving in Japan’s capital city, the Sir David Attenborough narrated India’s Wild Karnataka, and Magical Land of Oz.
