How does it feel to be back hosting a second series of Moneyball?

I’m so happy people loved it as much as I do – we’re back! I think I get more nervous than the contestants because I want them to win so badly. It’s great that the show is back.

What can we expect from this series?

Great contestants. Some difficult questions, some easy questions that they get wrong under pressure plus I can’t keep my composure like some other game show hosts can - I’m all in with the contestants, willing them to win!

What’s your favourite aspect of the show?

Meeting all the lovely people that come on the show, and seeing how gracious they are when they lose, and how overwhelmed they are when they win. It’s an honour to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience for people. And this season everyone is coming up in pairs, so they have some help but also someone to share the experience with.

What makes Moneyball different / stand out compared to other quiz shows?

The MONEY! You can earn so much money so quickly, its great.

What advice would you give to contestants coming onto Moneyball?

Most people won’t get to go on a gameshow in their lifetime, so enjoy the whole experience and don’t be afraid to show your emotions and trust your gut. The pressure changes things so you have to trust yourself.

Are there any skills from football that would help you do well on Moneyball?

Taking a penalty and trying to stay calm is probably the most important skill you need for both.

If you were a contestant on Moneyball, how do you think you would do? Best and worst categories of questions?

I’d back myself to get somewhere in the middle. I’d get nervous and want to make sure I win something so probably wouldn’t risk it all. Questions-wise, sport, history and films would probably be my strongest categories.

Out of all the people you have played football with who do you think would do the best and worst if they were a contestant on Moneyball?

[John] Barnsey would be brilliant. A super intelligent brother. Roy Keane would also be great.
Worst...probably my son Shaun only because I would get into his head!

Out of your MOTD co-hosts, who do you think would do better on the show Alan Shearer or Gary Lineker?

Sorry, Al. Gary would win. He hosts a general knowledge quiz show, so he’s got an advantage.

If you did a Celebrity Special of Moneyball who would you love to see take on Moneyball?

Roy Keane and Stormzy.

What would you say is more challenging, a bushtucker trail eating challenge or the Moneyball wall?

Eating something disgusting was definitely a massive challenge for me, but it’s over quickly and if you’re strong enough, you can take your mind off somewhere else. So, I think Moneyball is more challenging because you have to stay right there and conquer your nerves and face those flaming danger zones!

You are about to head to Australia for the Women’s World Cup, who on the England team do you think would do the best on Moneyball?

Lotte Wubben-Moy & Lucy Bronze. Both really smart. Also, I’ll say Millie Bright. She’s not the England captain for nothing – I’d back her under pressure.

Which manager from your playing days would do best at Moneyball?

Arsene Wenger. Arsene knew everything. He was obsessed with gaining more knowledge about everything. And Steve Coppell would do brilliantly.

If you could sum up Moneyball as a song, what would it be?

Giggs – Get Your Money Up 😊😊😊
