Jake Bugg is sad that pop 'hasn't improved' since 1D's break

Jake Bugg thinks that mainstream music is still in a bad place despite One Direction going on a break.

The boyband temporarily called it quits at the end of 2015 to recharge their energy.

Singer-songwriter Bugg often criticised the group in interviews for being a money-making machine.

Speaking to the Metro, the Brit has admitted that pop is still in a bad way despite One Direction being absent.

He said: "[It’s not improved] because if they’re not doing it, someone else is.

"I don’t think it’s any better unfortunately. Some people might disagree but that’s just my opinion."

Bugg meanwhile will release his new album 'On My One' on June 17.
