Jake Bugg: 'Fashion's at the front and music is at the back'

Jake Bugg has revealed that music should be more important than a way a band or singer styles themselves, but unfortunately that's not the case at the moment.

During a chat with the Metro newspaper, the young musician explained that it's sad to see that the focus is no longer on the songs, but on the way the bands or artists choose to dress and the clout they have:

"That's what people seem to be buying into now. It's more about fashion. The fashion's at the front and the music is at the back."

"I think it's the songs themselves. They are all written by the same people. They all sound the same."

In June, Bugg told the BBC that number one singles or albums mean very little nowadays because it's much more achievable: "Anyone can get a number one now. You only have to sell, like, 20,000 albums or something."

"If you speak to another band and you say, 'Oh, I had a number one album,' they'll be like, 'yeah, so did we, and John had one last week as well.' It's not really an achievement any more." Bugg added: "You know, The charts are the charts. I can't really get excited about anything I see in them."
