4 April 2024 – Full details of all upcoming shows over the next three months are below and include an array of stars from across the jazz spectrum including Grammy-nominated Jamaican pianist Monty Alexander showcasing music from his new album D-Day, Brazilian singer, pianist and guitarist Ed Motta, British bassist and band leader Dan Casimir with his new Big Band project, venerable British saxophonist John Surman, US bassist Kyle Eastwood playing the music from the films of his father Clint Eastwood, Snarky Puppy, Stacey Kent, Jose James, Buddy Rich Big Band featuring Cathy Rich & Gregg Potter with guest Benny Greb, Mica Paris, Espen Eriksen Trio with Andy Sheppard, Mike Stern Band and much more.

Main shows

Main shows at Ronnie’s are spread across two sittings, with early show doors at 5:30pm for a 6:30pm start and second house doors opening at 8:30pm for a 9:15pm start. On single houses on Mondays and Tuesdays (check website) doors open at 6pm for a 7.30pm start. On Sunday’s doors open at 12pm and 6.30pm for one sitting.

Upstairs @ Ronnie’s offers guests the opportunity to experience some of the best up and coming vocalists and instrumentalists on the London scene with a selection of jazz, New Orleans, Afro Cuban, samba and more.

The Late Late Show

Ronnie Scott’s famous Late Late Show is the hottest ticket in London for late night entertainment. Running Wednesday to Saturday and hosted by some of London’s coolest artists and stars, tickets cost £12 in advance and £12-25 on the door. With entry from 11.15pm until 3am, the Late Late Shows are a popular post-dinner destination for drinks and entertainment in the heart of Soho.

Drift-Lab

Originally conceived by Manuele Montesanti, sound design experiments via software and in-depth knowledge of synthesizer programming are at the basis of Drift-Lab's musical compositions which are inspired by the likes of Bach, Miles Davies and Frank Zappa.

Moyses Dos Santos

"Under The Hat," is Moyses' latest project fusing R&B, soul, hip-hop, jazz, funk, and pop. It highlights UK soundscapes and blends Moyses' jazz origins with Brazilian elements. Moyses Dos Santos, a respected bassist, songwriter and music director from Sao Paulo, relocated to the UK in the early 2000s and has worked alongside Nile Rodgers, Emeli Sandé, Janelle Monae, and more, including the famed Brazilian band, Azymuth.

Joe Chambers Quintet featuring Andrés Vial

Joe Chambers is an acclaimed drummer, vibraphonist and composer who has worked with many influential jazz figures. He has performed and recorded with Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, Joe Henderson, Donald Byrd, Archie Shepp, Bobby Hutcherson and many more. Chambers’ lengthy association with Blue Note Records began in 1964 and continues to this day. In 2023 Blue Note released Chambers’ album “Dance Kobina”, an exploration of the deep musical connection between jazz, Latin and African music. Chambers will lead the group and feature Canadian pianist Andrés Vial and alto saxophonist Jonathan Orland.

Carol Grimes ‘A Singer Tale’

Carol Grimes is widely regarded as one of the finest singers in British music. A much-loved performer infusing folk, blues and jazz, she came to the notice of the public when she joined the band Delivery in 1969 and recorded one album before departing for a solo career. Her debut solo album, Warm Blood (1974), was recorded with members of Area Code 615 and the Average White Band. She recorded her second album in Memphis, Tennessee, with The Brecker Brothers, Donald "Duck" Dunn, and The Memphis Horns.

Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion

Since its inception in 2008, the club’s monthly blues night has remained a firm favourite on the blues calendar bringing top performers from the world of jazz and blues. Co-led by guitarist/vocalist Marcus Bonfanti (Ten Years After), pianist/vocalist Paddy Milner (Tom Jones) and also featuring Tony Remy (JackBruce) on guitar, the Blues Explosion presents a night of electrifying blues featuring the music of BB King, Buddy Guy, Peter Green, Albert Collins, Dr. John and many more.

Soft Machine, from their earliest performances as a psychedelic band who were contemporaries of, and shared stages with, Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd and the Jimi Hendrix Experience, all the way to being one of Europe's best known 'fusion' groups, has influenced several generations of bands, and continues to be name-checked by today's hip experimentalists.

Acclaimed bassist Orlando Le Fleming will perform music from his upcoming album Wandering Talk. The current lineup includes UK's drummer James Maddren and keyboardist Tom Cawley.

Richie Goods & Chien Chien - Connected

Jazz-funk virtuosos Richie Goods and Chien Chien Lu are extending their musical partnership with their latest project Connected. Richie Goods, the youngest inductee of the Pittsburgh Jazz Hall of Fame, boasts a versatile career having performed with several jazz and popular artists. Chien Chien Lu, a Taiwanese vibraphonist and composer, combines her classical training and love for R&B to create a unique contemporary jazz style, earning her the title "vibraphone rising star" by Downbeat Magazine.

Kyle and his quintet will perform the soundtracks associated with Clint Eastwood’s masterpieces. Antonio Forcione, an internationally acclaimed guitarist known for his unconventional style, captivates audiences worldwide, earning him the nickname the 'Jimmy Hendrix of the acoustic guitar.' His performances, whether solo or in collaboration with his quartet blend jazz, Spanish, African, Brazilian and improvised music with unique virtuosity, passion and humour. Voted one of the ‘Hottest Bass Players in the World’ by readers of Bass Player magazine, virtuoso British-Asian bass player Shez Raja is renowned for his high energy live shows, unique Indo-jazz-funk sound and global star collaborations with Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Trilok Gurtu and Wayne Krantz. Inspired by travels with his father to the Punjab region of the Indian sub-continent, Raja immersed himself in the musical culture of his South Asian roots. He now merges his rich musical heritage with a hugely diverse playing experience to create dynamic and passionate music that blends East with West.

Armenian born pianist, Yessaï Karapetian is a composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist with an ambitiously wide approach to contemporary jazz. Snarky Puppy

Snarky Puppy isn’t exactly a jazz band. It’s not a fusion band, and it’s definitely not a jam band. It’s probably best to take Nate Chinen of the New York Times’ advice, to “take them for what they are, rather than judge them for what they’re not.” Snarky Puppy is a collective of sorts with as many as 20 members in regular rotation. At its core, the band represents the convergence of both black and white American music culture with various accents from around the world. The defining characteristic of Snarky Puppy’s music is the joy of performing together in the perpetual push to grow creatively.

Frank Cognoscenti performs Sinatra ‘62 Sextet

Frank Cognoscenti and his sextet return once more to pay homage to Sinatra’s tour of ‘1962’ which included nights at the Royal Festival Hall and Paris Lido. As one of only two tours Sinatra ever performed with the sextet line up featuring the rhythm section of drums, bass, piano and guitar complemented by alto sax and vibraphone.
