Little Mix's 2019 highlights

As we get ready to wave goodbye to 2019 with all of you lovely Mixers, we reflect upon the whirlwind of a year it's been for the equally lovely British act, Little Mix

The girls kicked off this year by winning their second Brit Award in February for Best British Video with Woman Like Me (ft. Nicki Minaj), then took to the stage to perform the single live.

In March, they won two Global Awards for Best Group and Best Song.

During the summer, they announced their departure from Syco, but soon after in June released the single Bounce Back with new record label, RCA. The music video for the track has outstandingly amassed nearly 35 million views to-date.

They also performed this year at Radio 1's Big Weekend in the UK, which you can watch below.

Little Mix went on to win their 4th EMA Award for Best UK & Ireland Act, and kicked off their massive LM5 Arena Tour, which opened in Madrid and saw them perform in Europe, the UK and Ireland, with an amazing five sold-out dates at London's O2 Arena.

The quartet also launched their own clothing range with fashion label Pretty Little Thing in November, and announced a brand new TV series for BBC One next year titled, Little Mix The SearchThe series, made by ModestTV, will see the band creating bands and becoming mentors to a new wave of talent. The singers who make it into new bands will live together and gain access to Little Mix’s inner circle who have contributed to their phenomenal success, including vocal coaches, song writers, producers and stylists.

Little Mix also won Best Group at this year's Radio 1 Teen Awards, held in their home country of the UK.

Jesy Nelson bravely opened up this year about the abuse she'd suffered at the hands of trolls and its affect on her mental health during an inspiring documentary titled, Odd One Out, which you can still watch on BBC iPlayer if you are based in the UK. The documentary broke BBC Three records and went onto become the top show on BBC iPlayer after its release, with 1.87 million requests within seven days - 64% being 16-34-year-olds. It has since been nominated for a National Television Award (NTA) in England.

And if that's not enough to make anyone collapse onto a sofa with exhaustion, the relentlessly hardworking four closed out 2019 with the biggest Christmas gift of all, by releasing their stunning festive hit, One I've Been Missing. The 1950's inspired ballad is steeped in sleigh bells and luscious harmonies, which beautifully captures the magic of Christmas. Its release was followed by the music video which amassed an incredible 1.5 million YouTube views after only 4 days.

The song was written by Leigh-Anne, along with Tre Jean-Marie, Jez Ashurst, Sinead Harnett and Rachel Furner. About it, Leigh-Anne said: "We absolutely love Christmas, it's our favourite time of the year.

"We've always wanted to write and release a Christmas song, we were just waiting for the right moment! The minute I finished writing 'One I've Been Missing' I couldn't wait to play it to the other three girls."

Little Mix are set to host their very own Christmas Day show on Radio 1 this year, where they’ll be putting their spin on a much-loved Christmas tradition as they host the ‘Drag Queen’s Speech’ with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo.

Until then, as we wrap up 2019 and get ready to enjoy the holidays, here's to you Mixers worldwide, and to the most loved girl group on our planet, who have not only released some of the greatest pop music in history, but are unparalleled by any other girl group in UK history for their immense global success.

Happy Holidays, Little Mix, and to all of you Mixers, wishing you a truly amazing Christmas and joyous New Year!
