In celebration of Earth Day 2022, global artist services company Platoon today announces the release of three brand-new EPS with Flock Together, the birdwatching collective working to challenge the underrepresentation of people of colour in the outdoors. Titled ‘Taste The Sky – London’, ‘Taste The Sky – New York City’ and ‘Taste The Sky – Tokyo’, the three EPs celebrate both nature and local talent from three of the cities in which Flock Together has a resident chapter.

Founded in London in 2020, Flock Together exists to reverse the underrepresentation of people of colour in the outdoors. The group has quickly spread its wings with international chapters in New York, Tokyo, and Toronto, while its transformative work has gathered acclaim from the likes of Vogue, BBC, Hypebeast, The Face, and Financial Times. The ‘Taste The Sky’ series seeks to capture the collaborative, community focussed ethos of the Flock Together collective, mixing original performances from local artists with nature sounds and field recordings from each of the three highlighted areas, to create a new and immersive musical experience.

Discussing the series, Flock Together founder Ollie Olanipekun says:

“Flock Together is a hugely ambitious platform and this music series is another initiative in a long line that really pushes the possibilities of what a community focused group can achieve when we come together. We have endless talent within our network and this project has been the perfect way to showcase our members from across the world.”

Music is an important part of the Flock Together experience, with the guided walks featuring a lunch break in which members are invited to share stories with the group. Often this is a platform for group members to deliver unforgettable and uplifting spoken word performances that make Flock Together walks utterly unique, and with this new series of EPs, the collective endeavours to further use its international platform to amplify new voices in music, production and spoken word performance.

Building on Flock Together’s existing charity work, and its educational programme provided through Flock Together Academy, a percentage of royalties from every Taste the Sky record will be donated to community charities in London, New York City and Tokyo. In the UK, these proceeds will benefit social mobility organisation Beyond The Bias, that upskills working-class Black, Asian and ethnic minorities and works to break the barriers that young people face by providing resources, opportunities and skills to those who need it most.

‘Taste the Sky – London’, features local artists Anu, Earbuds and KAM-BU. Poetic verse from Anu sits next to bars from Kam-Bu and production from Mercury Prize nominated producer Earbuds, all balanced beautifully by birdsong and original field recordings from London and its surroundings.

‘Taste the Sky - New York City’
