October was relatively steady in the Netflix ISP Speed Index , our monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime time Netflix streaming experience. 131 ISPs moved up 0.2 Mbps from September’s results , 300 ISPs stayed the same, and one ISP, Reytel DSL in Honduras, saw a drop of .2 Mbps to fall to 1.8 Mbps in October.

One ISP, Stofa (fiber and cable), replaced its separate reporting for fiber and cable in Denmark this month and saw 3.6 Mbps of speed in October, the same reported result for the two separate services in September.

Nineteen countries saw a .2 Mbps increase, including 11 countries that moved into the top performance tier this month with an average speed of 3.6 Mbps, including Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Panama and Paraguay. Forty-two countries were unchanged for average speed between September and October, and not a single country in the Netflix ISP Speed Index saw a loss of speed.

In total, 31 countries were in the top performance tier for October with an average speed of 3.6 Mbps; Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States.

The Netflix ISP Speed Index is a measure of prime time Netflix performance on a particular ISP and not a measure of overall performance for other services or data that may travel across the specific ISP network.
