Canadian artist Ivan Hartle releases his highly anticipated debut album ‘A Place to Stay’. The Vancouver-based artist expertly weaves retro soul, jazz and blues elements to create a vintage sonic aesthetic with modern sensibilities.

His debut album ‘A Place to Stay’ exemplifies this sound, the 10-track offering delves into themes of personal relationships, love, hardships and the connection to others. An introspective album at heart, Hartle draws inspiration from his own experiences and the world around him. The result is a collection of tracks that offers the listener a rich sonic tapestry of diverse sounds and subject matters that Ivan painstakingly crafted over the course of a few years.

Speaking on the album Ivan Hartle states “Obviously life is very nuanced and circumstantial, but sometimes the act of looking deeply within yourself can reveal an answer to a problem. For example, in the song “Set Me Free” I write about feeling lost or looking to someone or something for help, but a line that I really connected with suggests “maybe it's there in my reverie… maybe I’m unaware that it’s all in me.”

The album's lead single ‘Love in the Lead’ further illustrates Hartle's writing style, with the track aiming to answer one simple question ‘Is love in the lead?’, with Ivan exploring whether love can truly outweigh destructive human traits such as greed, jealousy and hate.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Ivan Hartle’s bluesy, soul singer-songwriter stylings are drawn from the classic sounds of Sam Cooke and Otis Redding to new age artists like John Mayer, Amos Lee, and Leon Bridges. Ivan’s memorable live acts are flush with melodic grooves and strong, soulful vocal performances. Ivan started releasing music in 2019, and since then he has risen to prominence in the Vancouver music scene, featuring on notable festival line-ups including, Rifflandia, North Vancouver Shipyards Festival, and the Surrey Fusion Festival. Other career highlights include touring Western Canada, opening for Jon and Roy, and headlining the McPherson Theatre in Victoria in 2022. He has previously garnered national support from CBC radio and NPO Radio 2 (Netherlands), as well as renowned outlets including DailyHive, Global News TV and The Province.

Ivan Hartle also boasts well over a million streams across Spotify with previously released singles taken from ‘A Place to Stay’ achieving various editorial playlists and gaining 680k+ (Feelin’ Like’), 150k+ (Love in the Lead) and 90k+ (Shine) streams respectively. Now with the release of his debut album ‘A Place to Stay’ and a subsequent album release party on January 6th at the Cobalt in Vancouver, Ivan Hartle looks to celebrate the new year with a bang.
