The musical duo, Falky, first came into being in 2021 when the two members, Noah and Rufus, decided to officially form the band after they recorded their first song, ‘Dumb Out Of Luck.’ What followed was a slew of anthemic indie-pop bangers, their latest single ‘You Time’ embodies their distinctive sound.

Featuring rock-infused guitar parts, melodic synths and slick production, Falky has established a fun new direction for indie pop, delving into various genres without confining themselves to any specific style. The band made it clear that performance was the key factor when creating this track, that for it to work, the vocals needed to be felt instead of heard; “I’d say ‘You Time’ is probably the song that you can hear that performance factor the most on… it was the first song we were able to turn our brains off and just have fun on and that means a lot to us.”

When asked to speak about the process of creating the track, Falky stated that “the track started as a somewhat negative song called ‘Me Time’ about a relationship where one side wants some time to themselves. After joking about wanting to make the song sound “sexier,” we decided to change the whole premise to ‘You Time.’ So instead of someone wanting time away from their partner, the song became about someone who wanted more time with a potential partner.” This step away from the more negative connotations of the initial idea is part of what makes this track so enjoyable, it feels fresh and dynamic, immediately pulling listeners into the synth-laced world of Falky.
