Lana Del Rey’s "Lust For Life" earns her third UK No.1 album

Lana Del Rey’s Lust For Life earns her a third UK No. 1 album

Congratulations to Lana Del Rey, whose new album Lust For Life clinches a last gasp Number 1 on this week's Official Albums Chart.

The record overtakes mid-week leaders Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, whose latest release Crooked Calypso settles for second place, to become Lana's third chart-topping album in the UK. Her previous Number 1s are 2012's million-selling debut Born To Die and 2014's Ultraviolence.

Paul and Jacqui still land their highest charting album to date as a duo (they previously notched up three Number 1s under their former band The Beautiful South) - 2014's What Have We Become reached Number 3, while Wisdom Laughter and Lines peaked at 4.

Crooked Calypso may have missed out on the top spot overall, but it does finish at Number 1 on this week's Official Vinyl Albums Chart. It was also the most purchased record on cassette this week, selling just shy of 700 copies on the format. Lana's Lust For Life is being released on both vinyl and cassette in the coming weeks.

New entries and high climbers

Elsewhere in the Top 10, US rapper Tyler, The Creator is new at 9 with Flower Boy, his highest charting album to date, and Dizzee Rascal's Raskit lands at 10 to earn him a fifth Top 10 record.

British singer-songwriter Declan McKenna enters at 11 with his debut album What Do You Think About The Car?, and US hip-hop star Meek Mill is new at 21 with his third album Wins & Losses.

Finally, Stormzy's debut record Gang Signs & Prayer re-enters the Top 40 at 37 (up six places) after being one of 12 albums shortlisted for this year's Mercury Prize.

Official Chart: Linkin Park records dominate after death of frontman Chester Bennington

A number of Linkin Park records have re-entered the Official Chart this week as fans mourn the loss of the band’s frontman Chester Bennington

Nine of the band’s albums are back in this week’s Top 100, five of which are inside the Top 40, and now Linkin Park become the first US band in 50 years to secure three albums in the Top 10. The last American group to do it was The Monkees in 1967.

Their debut album Hybrid Theory lands at Number 4, matching its peak from its original release in 2000. The record includes their signature hit In The End, which is the highest-charting Linkin Park entry on this week’s Official Singles Chart at Number 14.

Close behind Hybrid Theory is the band’s most recent record, One More Light, at Number 5 – close to its Number 4 peak when it was released just two months ago.

Meanwhile, Meteora – Linkin Park’s first UK Number 1 album in 2003 – returns to the Official Albums Chart at Number 7, making the US band the first in 50 years to have three albums in the Top 10. The last American band to do it was The Monkees in 1967.

Linkin Park's 2007’s Minutes To Midnight is back at 15. The latter album features their highest charting single to date, What I’ve Done, which topped out at Number 6 in the same year.

Further down, the band’s 2010 release A Thousand Suns is a re-entry at Number 38.

Elsewhere on this week’s Official Singles Chart, the band’s 2003 single Numb is at 20, and their most recently release Heavy ft. Kiiara hits a new high at 43, having originally peaked at 53 in March this year.
