Renowned for their passionate live performances, To Kill a King release their Unplugged In Berlin EP, a never-before-heard collection of six tracks recorded in Berlin on the 2018 Bastille Reorchestrated tour. The unmissable focus track ‘Choices’ features Charlie Barnes and Bastille’s dynamic frontman Dan Smith.

Summarising this unique EP release, To Kill A King’s Ben Jackson shares:

“In "Unplugged in Berlin" we present the sort of stripped-back, kind-of-acoustic arrangements we would normally have performed at an intimate living room gig or Sofar Sounds show when we were starting out. Except instead of performing to 15 couples on slightly awkward dates, we were performing to a 2000-odd excited Berliners in a venue that looks like it would be Sauron's favourite concert hall. We think that the intimacy, emotion and rawness has translated well though and it's a nice opportunity to perform some rarer tunes like "Oh Joy" that we haven't played much live before.”

Unplugged In Berlin track-list:

  1. The Problem of Evil
  2. No More Love Songs
  3. Bloody Shirt
  4. Oh Joy
  5. Spiritual Dark Age
  6. Choices feat. Dan Smith & Charlie Barnes

This is the band’s first release since the release of their third album, The Spiritual Dark Age, in 2018.

Tour dates:

Date City Venue
25th January Manchester YES
26th January Leeds Brudenell Social Club
27th January Nottingham Rescue Rooms
1st February Bristol Thekla
2nd February Brighton Concorde 2
3rd February London The Garage

The live EP will be followed by a UK tour in the new year to celebrate the ten year anniversary of their critically acclaimed album Cannibals With Cutlery. This six-date tour will feature a track-for-track performance of that landmark record in addition to long-standing fan favourites. These shows promise to be a timely reminder of the band’s signature sound, which has often been praised for its honest songwriting, anthemic melodies, and experimental instrumentation.

Frontman Ralph Pelleymounter says, “There’s a genuine excitement among us about playing these songs. Learning them all again reminds me how elated we were to be making our first album and that we poured so much feeling into each song. We can't wait to get back to some of our favourite cities to share that feeling with the fans again.”

For various dates along the UK tour, To Kill A King will be joined by Charlie Barnes and FOURS (who have reformed espe).
