Amanie worked closely with Juno award winning producer TAABU to create a beat that resembled her experience arriving to Juba, South Sudan after years of remaining a refugee in Canada due to the outbreak of civil war. The track contains catchy, braggadocious lyrics sung in both English and Arabic-Juba. Amanie affectionately and describes the most well known traits of a “Zol Kebir” which roughly translated to English means “Big man/person”. Of the track, she says, “what I found is that South Sudanese people use humour to get through the most difficult things in life, and I wanted to bring that humour and joy into this track.” A music video for “Big Man (Zol Kebir)” premiered within Juba, South Sudan on June 15, 2023, followed by the official world wide release on Sunday, June 18, 2023. DIVINE, Amanie Illfated’s sophomore album is also set to be released internationally on July 9, 2023.
