Musical icon Elton John released his latest album The Lockdown Sessions, today. The 16-track project features three Ali Tamposi co-written cuts: “Finish Line” with Stevie Wonder, “Always Love You” with Young Thug and Nicki Minaj, and “Stolen Car” with Stevie Nicks. Additionally, the Bruce Roberts and Phil Bentley collab “Beauty In The Bones” with Jimmie Allen is also included on the album. Regarding the album overall, Variety stated it’s “wildly eclectic, with a variety of duets encompassing metal power ballads, pulsating disco throwbacks, laid-back hip-hop, and brittle pop gems… John’s open-hearted vocals and sincerity make “The Lockdown Sessions” a charming listen.” The NME further noted the star-studded collaborations, detailing, “The break-up anthem ‘Always Love You’, featuring Young Thug and Nicki Minaj, initially sounds like a cut from ‘The Hamilton Mixtape’: it begins as a theatrically grandiose Elton piano ballad, before a trap-beat kicks in and Thug joins in with a nimble flow… and Stevie Wonder takes it to church with the spiritual ‘Finish Line’, while Stevie Nicks swoops in up for the relationship-dissecting ‘Stolen Car’, which sounds like the couple from ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ 45 years on, looking through life’s rear-view mirror.”
