Sam Smith confirms work on second album

Sam Smith has revealed that he is already working on his next album.

The Brit unleashed his debut record 'In The Lonely Hour' earlier this year and it has made a splash on both sides of the Atlantic.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the 'Stay With Me' star said that he has been eager to start on its follow-up because he has fears of not being ready.

Smith said: "I'm a complete control freak so I've already decided on the artwork and title to the album, which will change obviously. I think I will always be so scared of not doing this as a career, so the thought of just sitting back and enjoying the ride, and then late next year someone going, 'Right, now we need to do [a] second album', and me not knowing what the f**k to do...I couldn't do that.

"I did my first writing session a few weeks ago. I feel like I've already got a possible song, which I love. I've got a title, which I think I love. I don't know what I want to talk about yet, y'know. I'm not in a relationship, but I'm dating. But I don't know if I want to pressure myself to get into a relationship to write an album, so there's loads of options."

Speaking meanwhile about the one thing that has surprised him in the industry, Smith said:

"That you can do it and still be surrounded by nice people. I thought before that you had to play the game so much that you'd be surrounded by horrible pigs. But I've managed to do it and I'm surrounded by a really honest and lovely team. I've done it without stabbing anyone in the back, which is nice."
