(New York, NY) – The legendary all-woman band from the ‘60s, the Ace of Cups, has released a first listen and video of their new song the heartfelt and funky ‘Made For Love.’ This is a special radio-edit from the band’s forthcoming sophomore album, Sing Your Dreams, out August 18th via High Moon Records. Jackson Browne, Bob Weir and David Freiberg, dear brothers of the band from the beginning, lend their iconic voices to the song and help to bring the spirit of the ‘60s full-circle.

Denise Kaufman of Ace of Cups explains, “On our upcoming album, ‘Made for Love’ is the second half of a two-song medley. We decided to excerpt ‘Made for Love’ as a separate release, because we wanted to offer this message into the world right now. We had finished recording our new album at Laughing Tiger Studio in Marin County just two days before the Covid lockdown began and all the band members headed to our respective homes to shelter-in-place. At this moment, maybe more than ever, ‘Made for Love’ is a reminder from the Ace of Cups that we, ALL the people, didn’t come here for hate, greed and war. Every single one of us was made for love.”

For the song’s video, the Ace of Cups collaborated with renowned dancer/choreographer Stacey Printz, director of San Francisco’s Printz Dance Project. Printz and her dancers had just returned from a residency at The Kennedy Center when Covid-19 took over and cancelled their spring season dance schedule. Printz reached out to her dancers-in-lockdown and gave them prompts for dance sequences for the video. ‘Made for Love’ also showcases friends, family and fans sharing photos and clips of love in their lives.

From 1967 to 1970, Ace of Cups were at the epicenter of the ‘60s cultural and social revolution. From the Acid Tests to the protests, from the free concerts in Golden Gate Park to the ballrooms of San Francisco, they shared stages with everyone from The Band to the Grateful Dead, and counted Jimi Hendrix amongst their fans. Despite eliciting music industry interest for their exceptional songs, sublime harmonies and exuberant live performances, these gifted young women never got the chance to make an album until almost five decades later. The reunited band’s 2018 self-titled debut received glowing praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard and The Guardian, as well as in-depth features on NPR All Things Considered and CBS This Morning, and an appearance performance on NBC’s TODAY. The current line-up features original Ace of Cups members Mary Gannon, Denise Kaufman, Mary Ellen Simpson and Diane Vitalich, along with Dallis Craft.
