Dutch singer-songwriter Marle Thomson is one to watch! With her warm and colorful voice and guitar sound, she brings soulful songs about longing, vulnerability and having the courage to open yourself up. Soulful Space Pop, as Thomson calls it herself.

Marle Thomson already made fame in The Netherlands with prominent performances and a well-received 8 track debut EP. She played live on Dutch national radio, prime time Dutch national television, performed at various festivals and stages such as Amsterdam Fashion Week, internationally acclaimed festival Eurosonic-Noorderslag and also as opening act for British singer Heather Peace and Australian singer Mark Wilkinson. In 2018 Marle went on her first ever UK tour.
Previous single ‘Satellites’, an unprecedented, striking song written, recorded and produced by Marle herself, was immediately picked up by UK blogs Music Week, Guestlist and Clash Magazine.

Expectations is the first single from the long awaited and much anticipated new EP that will be released this spring. The soulful sound of Expectations creates a unique universe full of beats, loops, guitars, keys and vocals: a mix of power and vulnerability.

Marle Thomson about her new single:

"This song is about expectations. Expectations we have of ourselves and the presumed expectations of the people around us. It's about the constant pressure we feel, the 'fear of missing out.' These days we are so visible online, but at the same time showing so little of ourselves. We are constantly comparing ourselves with others, and it's not surprising that so many people get a burn-out. The social and self-imposed pressure can be tough. But it's okay to give up without giving up.

"Just 'cause I'm giving it up, doesn't mean I give up, no.

"You have to choose your own path, by trial and error and daring to be vulnerable.

"It is a personal struggle for me and the perfectionist that I can be ;-) Sometimes I can feel the fear that I will never fulfill my true potential. Yes, I also like to stay in control and can set the bar very high for myself. But life cannot be controlled, we all deal with sadness and disappointment and every time it is the art to be able to let go, to continue to trust and to enjoy the moment."

Now it's time for Marle Thomson to spread her wings internationally with BERT debut single Expectations.
