TAYLOR SWIFT’S SINGLE ‘22’ SET FOR U.K. RELEASE ON 1st APRIL 2013

Taylor Swift’s forthcoming single, ‘22’, will be released in the UK by Big Machine Label Group & Mercury Records on 1st April 2013. This news comes hot off the heels of Taylor’s show-stopping performance of “I Knew You Were Trouble.” at the 2013 Brit Awards and her winning her 7th career GRAMMY award at the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards (for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Safe and Sound” from The Hunger Games).

‘22’, (written and produced by Taylor, Max Martin and Shellback), is the third single to be released from Taylor’s 5+ million-selling current album RED. It follows singles ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’, (which spent 16 weeks in the UK top 40), and ‘Trouble’, (which has spent the past 8 consecutive weeks in the UK top 10). The combined sales of these two singles are over 1 million in the UK alone.

RED reached no.1 at iTunes in over 32 countries on the first day of its release last October, and has since been certified Platinum in the UK, (for sales of over 300,000 in the UK), and 4 x Platinum in the US, with the disc’s worldwide sales now in excess of 5.4 million. With RED Taylor Swift becomes the first artist since the Beatles, (and the only female artist in history), to log six or more weeks at no. 1 in the US charts with three consecutive studio albums.

The video for ‘22’, directed by Anthony Mandler and shot in LA. Many of Taylor’s co-stars in the video are her real-life friends. Taylor’s first UK TV performance of ‘22’ aired on Saturday, (9th March), on BBC1’s ‘Let’s Dance For Comic Relief’.

This week, the US leg of Taylor’s RED Tour will kick off in Omaha, Nebraska. It will include 13 stadium stops, for a total of 66 shows in 47 cities in 29 states and 3 provinces. A complete listing of tour dates, including on sale information, is available at www.taylorswift.com.

Described by The Times as a “rare talent” and Rolling Stone Magazine as “one of the few genuine rock stars we’ve got these days”, Taylor Swift is one of the top 5 selling digital music artists worldwide, and is the top-selling digital artist in country music history. At only 23 years old, she has already had career record sales in excess of 26 million albums and 75 million song downloads worldwide. Each of Swift’s four studio albums has sold in excess of 5 million copies worldwide, and her third album, SPEAK NOW, is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the Fastest Selling Digital Album by a female artist, and her two most recent albums are two of only 18 albums in the entire history of music to sell more than 1 million copies in a single week.
