Giving the gift of music this Christmas, talented R&B quintet MiC LOWRY spread some holiday cheer by releasing their own rendition of the classic Christmas song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.

Fresh from releasing their critically acclaimed project, MOOD -an EP of all new material that features their latest singles, “Don’t Tempt Me” and playlist record "Can't Lie" - MiC LOWRY are starting to make quite the impact with their impressive vocal harmonies being dubbed as "the UK's answer to Jodeci" by Mistajam.

The boys have been on quite a run as of late paying homage in a series of MOOD covers to various different artists that inspired them on their journey to notoriety. First there was Bobby V’s “Slow Down”, then they added the likes of Jodeci’s “My Heart Belongs to U”, Dru Hill’s “Beauty” and Next’s “Wifey”. Now the lads from Liverpool turn their attention to a song that has not only inspired fans of music but fans of Christmas as well.

Written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was first introduced to the world by Judy Garland in 1944. Ranked by ASCAP as the third most performed Christmas song of all-time, the song has been covered by Frank Sinatra, Sam Smith, SWV, Michael Bublé, Bing Crosby, Kelly Clarkson, and a whole host of others. Adding their name to the list of acclaimed artists to perform it, MiC LOWRY have put their own spin on the classic song all in the name of their fans… and Christmas.

“We grew up listening to many of our favourite artists sing Christmas songs,” says Ben. “Because of this we felt inspired to do the same. Around the holiday period every year we try and record something new for our fans and so this time around we decided we wanted to lay down a proper recording. Not only that, we all love Christmas!”

Adding their signature soul-stirring sound to the Christmas favourite, MiC LOWRY’s harmonies prove to be the special ingredient that really makes the song stand out as their own. Stripped back to an acoustic guitar, a warm strings arrangement and some beautiful vocals, whether you’re sat in front of a fire roasting chestnuts, opening presents around the Christmas tree, or tucking into your favourite meal at the Christmas dinner table, this version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” will feel like it belongs with the classics you’re used to hearing at this time of year.

“It’s one of our favourite Christmas songs to sing,” explains Delleile. “A few years back we performed it in a cathedral with a string quartet so it felt only right that we record a version. So many artists have done their own take on ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ and we wanted to gift the fans with ours.”

Like most people at this time of year, Christmas is very special in the eyes of MiC LOWRY. Explaining what this time of year means to them, Kaine adds: “It’s all about family to us. Christmas means spending valuable time with our loved ones. We are usually busy throughout the year touring, recording, rehearsing and promoting our music so Christmas is extra special because it means we get to spend time with the people closest to us.”

Celebrating the start of Christmas the way it should be, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is out December 1st. MiC LOWRY’s MOOD EP is out now on iTunes and available on all streaming platforms.
