Stockholm-based producer ishi vu today announces details of their forthcoming EP “Ephemeral Garbage,” due for release 28 February 2020 via Different Recordings and the artist-run label, Glum Trigger. Today also sees the official release of the EP’s third track ‘Metamorfos’, accompanied by a brand new video.
‘Metamorfos’ pictures the life cycle of a butterfly, starting as a disgusting grub, and evolving toward a final defiant crescendo. “I wanted to convey the feeling of flight, and visually, brilliance,” the young Swedish producer says. “It is at the same time a moment of surrender, as well as triumph.”
“Ephemeral Garbage” charts a course between the dancefloors of 2019 and the dark echo of 1980s post-rock, exploring conceptual themes of maturity, curiosity and ambition. “It represents my leaving Gothenburg, leaving the nest. It's quite 'coming-of-age,'” the artist explains. “To spread your wings and let the wind carry you forward, consolidating all aspects of yourself. These are the overt themes; I hope some will also feel as I do, a sense of that discrete compassion towards their-self and towards the universe, as one and the same, hinted at between the lines.”
Recently, ishi vu co-founded the label Glum Trigger, which is now teaming up with Different Recordings for a collaborative release of the “Ephemeral Garbage” EP, with a mini-album to follow in 2020.
