Rachael Cain known lovingly by her stage name Screamin’ Rachael is and has long been the guardian of the threshold and the Holy Grail of the “House Music” genre, who was dubbed “The Queen of House Music” by Billboard Magazine. Being the first House artist to sign with a major record label, Rachael is also the President of the iconic TRAX Record label based in Chicago, which is about to celebrate their 40th birthday. The label spawned rapturous scenes in the US, the UK and all over Europe making the genre and the label a global phenomenon. It marked a trailblazing event of EDM festivals and club extravaganzas.

Rachael Cain became the eyes and ears of the iconic label. Aside from her own artistry and monster House Hits has worked with superstars including: Grandmaster Melle Mel, Marshall Jefferson, Colonel Abrams, Afrika Bambaataa, just to mention a few. A pop culture icon in the 80’s and 90’s as one of the Club Kids she appeared in documentaries including Glory Daze: The Life and Times of Michael Alig, The Last Party, Techno Style, and Party Monster: Shockumentary about the murder of Angel Melendez. Her first TRAX single record release was “My Main Man.” In 2007 Rachael became the owner and operator of TRAX Records and its trademark.

Everyone hits a dark spot in the tapestry of life. Although haunted by alleged frivolous lawsuits and believed to be false allegations made regarding the label, Rachael still rose above the here-say and continues to work with the legends, and the future legends, making sure that house music remains in the US where it belongs. She continues to orgasmically capture the essence of a kaleidoscopic vibrancy with her own music as a singer/songwriter. She continues on a spiritual quest and the universe itself propels her chariot of fire.

Screamin’ Rachael is blowing up the music charts with her singles “Late Nite Dub Addict” and “So Very Loyal”. Her newest release “Rising” is much more than a song but rather a story of courage and empowerment. Despite dramatic, complicated, and heartbreaking rollercoaster court battles, Rachael has risked everything in order to keep the label and do the right thing in the face of bitter adversity. Without getting immersed in the quicksand Rachael married the late Larry Sherman founder of TRAX. Both were accused by artists who they had once called friends of failing to pay royalties. However, Rachael herself was not even around when many of these contracts were signed. When Larry died Rachael was left with half the company and heartache that still continues.

According to “Rolling Stone Magazine”, In 2007 a Canadian company called Casablanca licensed the classic TRAX catalog to the BBC owned company called Demon Music Group. In 2012 Rachel got the ownership of Trax back from Casablanca, but the deal with Demon remained in place. In January 2022 Rachel finally got the use of the rights to the classic TRAX catalog back from Demon. According to Rachael when she received the catalog back from demon part of the agreement was that a fund had to be set up and divided among the artists. 50% of that income from those tracks since January 2022 has been put in escrow to be distributed among the artists and letters were sent to classic TRAX artists asking for tax documents that would allow them to be paid. She also says Trax has also engaged a royalties accounting firm to manage the distribution of payments.

However, the story doesn't end there. In a quote taken from Rolling Stone magazine, “When I started the journey, no one, absolutely no one, believes I could ever win against Casablanca. I am the only person who just believed in persevering, and somehow all that finally ended only to start this new terrible chapter. There were so many times in my life where I’d be losing everything. Losing people I love, losing everything I have. And now it’s happening again.” ….Rachael Cain.

Rachael Cain is currently working with loyal artists Irene Michaels, Luca Gerlin, SAYTEK, DJ Thad X and the many others that stood by her and believed in her. And of course Joe Smooth, who is one of the classic greats whom she has known since the beginning.

Courage cannot move mountains however it can show us how to climb them. Rachael looks at the darkness as a canopy where the stars hang so we can shine.
