Zayn Malik on New Album and Rescuing Harry Styles

Singer Zayn Malik has revealed that he once helped former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles avoid a pyrotechnics mishap on stage.

During an entertaining interview with Sean Evans for Hot Ones, where guests eat hot wings of varying strengths, he explained that he noticed Styles about to make a terrible mistake and was able to step in:

"I've never actually been burned by pyro... One time - there's footage of it and it's actually amazing because it makes me look great - but on stage, Harry was right next to a pyro and the pyro was about to go off 'cause they were on timers. He had a towel over his head and he had his head over the pyro and he didn't see that the pyro was there. So you see me run from one side of the stage and push him out of the way and the pyro kind of like explodes right in front of his face - that was really dangerous!"

Malik is gearing up to release his new album Room Under the Stairs, and opened up about the offering, describing it as having "a very different sound to anything I've ever put out before."

"It's just really raw and honest, and I hope people get that when they listen to it. I hope they get some insight into, you know, how I'm feeling and things I've been going through over the last six/seven years while I've been writing this record, and that's the most important thing for me. I just want people to really feel like they get a connection with the record."

Elaborating on the record's title, the 'Pillowtalk' hitmaker added: "I recorded most of it in a tiny little shoe cabinet in my house. I felt like it was fitting to name it after that room so that people can get even more sentiment into what the whole idea behind it was."
