Queen + Adam Lambert kicked off the prestigious Oscars ceremony in Hollywood yesterday (February 24)  with two of the band's biggest anthems, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions in front of Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Glenn Close and more.

At the end of their performance, Lambert started the ceremony by saying: "Welcome to the Oscars!"

The band opened the show as the film, Bohemian Rhapsody, was nominated for five awards and swept the board with four awards in total for Best Actor, Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing.

Bohemian Rhapsody has now won more Oscars than The Godfather which won three.

The Best Picture award went to Green Book.

Lambert arrived at the ceremony looking exceptionally dashing complete with 'floppy cuffs' in Tom Ford shoes and an Alexander McQueen suit.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, Lambert said that they will be singing We Are The Champions as "everybody in the audience tonight has worked really hard".

On his cameo appearance in the film, he tells Seacrest:

"I play a trucker in the movie and I tempt Freddie at the restroom at the truck stop! Classy!"

Seacrest mentions that he listened to Lambert's brand new track, Feel Something, the day before.

Lambert describes it as "A nice appetizer for things to come! The main course is on its way!"
