SONGWRITER/PRODUCER BRIAN HOWES HONOURED

Hedley, Daughtry collaborator receives prestigious award

VANCOUVER, Nov. 22 -- Songwriter and producer Brian Howes was honoured at the 2010 SOCAN Awards with this year's International Achievement Award! Howes becomes only the second recipient of this prestigious award, given last year to the legendary group Rush.

The Vancouver based Howes was recognized by the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada at its 21st annual awards ceremony held November 22nd at the John Bassett Theatre in Toronto.

Last year, Howes worked with a who's who of notable chart topping artists. His latest collaboration with Hedley, resulted in three hit singles "Perfect", "Cha-Ching" and "Don't Talk to Strangers" from the group's multi-platinum current release, The Show Must Go. Howes also co-wrote "Over You" and "What I Want" for Daughtry's five million selling debut CD and has two additional cuts on his current multi-platinum and award-winning disc.

Howes also shared writing credits with Chris Cornell on David Cook's "Light On", a song that made it to the American Idol's Platinum selling and award winning CD. He was instrumental in the success of Hinder's Extreme Behavior that went on to sell over four million copies. Howes was behind the console as producer for that release, and shared writing credits on the #1 CHR single "Lips of An Angel".

As a musician, a studio owner, a producer, A & R professional and a songwriter, Howes has seen the music business from all perspectives. It is this unique vantage point that has made him a much sought after producer and songwriter. Artists such as Boys Like Girls with top 10 singles "Love Drunk" and "2 is Better than 1", featuring Taylor Swift, Puddle of Mudd with the #1 rock radio track "Famous" and Skillet, with their Howes produced GRAMMY nominated "Comatose" have benefited from his sharp ear and creative guidance.

This year, Brian co-wrote the title track for X Factor winner Joe McElderry's new release and he is currently in the studio finishing up work with Simple Plan for the band's forthcoming release on Atlantic Records.

A 2007 Juno award winner for Producer of the Year, Howes is a much sought after talent, a man whose star is on the rise with a future that beckons brightly.
