Phil Collins quits and apologises

Phil Collins has apologised for his success stating that it led to him becoming unpopular.

"I'm sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn't mean it to happen like that. It's hardly surprising that people grew to hate me."

Speaking to FHM, the ex-Genesis drummer also said that he's retiring from the music business due to ill health, and that he no longer recognises the industry:

"I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think: 'I can't be in the same business as this'. I don't really belong to that world and I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm much happier to write myself out of the script entirely."

Collins has suffered from tinnitus, dislocated vertebra and nerve damage which has left him no longer able to play the drums.

"I don't think anybody's going to miss me," he concluded.
