Machine Gun Kelly Alters Upcoming Album's Artwork

Machine Gun Kelly has been forced to alter the artwork for his upcoming fifth studio album, Tickets To My Downfall, after unknowingly using someone else's design.

The 30-year-old rapper and singer-songwriter took to Twitter yesterday (September 8) to issue an apology after his fans took to social media to compare the cover for the album to a photograph by Sen Mitsuki. The ‘I Think I’m Okay’ star explained that he's "in the process of replacing it right now” after it came to his attention that the art was copied without gaining the rights to the original photo.

He tweeted:

"found out that the album cover i released was essentially copied from a photo we do not own.
i didn’t make this design so i apologize to the original artist.
i’m in the process of replacing it right now. (sic)"

He shared the artwork for his pop punk LP, alongside the full tracklisting last week.

The Ohio-bred star's upcoming ablum is inspired by Blink-182, and has been produced by the band's drummer and frequent collaborator, Travis Barker. It features the previously released tracks ‘My Ex’s Best Friend’ (featuring blackbear) which was released last month on August 7, ‘Concert For Aliens,’ and ‘Bloody Valentine’.

Last June, the pair teamed up on 'I Think I'm Okay' with Yungblud and shared a version of the Blink-182 classic, 'What's My Age Again?'.

MGK closed the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on August 30, joined by Travis Barker and blackbear, where he performed a medley of 'My Ex's Best Friend' and 'Bloody Valentine' from a New York City rooftop. Earlier in the evening, he had picked up the award for Best Alternative for his song 'Bloody Valentine'.

His new album, Tickets To My Downfall, is scheduled to be released on September 25, and will mark a departure from rap in favor of a pop punk style.
