Nathan Carpenter to release video ahead of his debut album '10:2 Midnight' for Christmas 2016
UK singer, songwriter, and musician Nathan Carpenter is set to release the video for 'On This Lonely Road Again', alongside his debut album '10:2 Midnight' on the 9th December of this year having defeated all the odds!
Suffering with selective mutism, an anxiety disorder which inhibits a person’s speech in specific situations since the age of three, Nathan has fought hard against it and is now proving the impossible to everyone around him! Bullied at a young age which knocked his confidence even further, Nathan used to find his sancturary by singing and recording at home with his sister. This soon got picked up by his school and before he knew it was put forward to join the theatre company 'Stagestruck' and was performing on stage for the shows Dreamboats and Sinking Ships at Swindon's own arts centre.
Nathan said 'I don’t know what it is, but I’m a different person when I perform. I’m so shy with my selective mutism, and in day-to-day life I struggle. It’s frustrating in that annoying sort of way. It feels like you want to say something, but you can’t. I have seen a lot of people about it. They just say it’s something you can overcome, but they don’t know how. Music has helped a lot with it. When I perform it feels like I have done it. I’m happy because it feels like where I belong when I am singing. It’s an exciting feeling, like you are doing something you love.'
It seems that belting out hits to an auditorium full of thousands of people is a much more welcoming prospect than speaking up in a room full of people for the mute singer, and since being a finanlist for National competition Open Mic UK in 2014, Nathan has gone from strength to strength.
Now comes the release of his debut album '10:2 Midnight', recorded at River Studios by producer Tom Jobling, and it showcases Nathan's unique talent in songwriting, with stories of dispair and hope embellished in the poppy backdrop of a classic rock sound. Reflective songs which are inspiring, progressive, and hit you sideways with a wall of cacophonic brilliance!
