On September 20th, the Malta-based electronica duo, Huts on Beaches, debuted their first single, Coastal Signals.

Their oceanic blend of organic house and minimalist techno instrumentally captures the feeling of freedom that follows expression while playing with the warm and soft tones of vintage synthesisers in the extended-release that submerges you for 6:50 minutes in the hazy azure catharsis.

Fans of Landhouse, Janus Rasmussen and Rival Consoles will want to immerse themselves within the waves of this temperately invigorating release, crafted by Karl Gauci & Keith Bunce, who share synth and drum machine duties, melding their unique melodic styles before producing them in their studio.

Before hitting the airwaves, Coastal Signals was mastered by David Vella at Temple Studios Malta. It is soon to be followed by their sophomore release, Leap, in December 2022.

Huts on Beaches said:

“Coastal Signals is our debut single, inspired by the freedom of expression in all forms of media, in our case, music. We live on a busy island; one of the few places to readjust is the sea. The calmness and the waves clear our mindset, hence our moniker.

We wanted to give the listener an uplifting and welcoming atmosphere that reiterates the message that courage can always be found to express thoughts, even if it is difficult. Sonically, the single is dreamy yet punchy to reflect the challenge of expression.”

Amelia Vandergast, Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“Bringing the elementally restorative power of the ocean to the airwaves was no easy feat. Huts on Beaches were undeniably successful in their debut, which is an incredibly promising sign of what’s to come from the duo, whose first release wouldn’t be out of place on the iconic soundtrack to The Beach."

About

Huts on Beaches started with our obsession with old synths. We were rehearsing in a band together and went on a hunt for an old MS-10. Then we started buying and collecting all the old synthesizers we could find before restoring them to working conditions and experimenting with sounds for Huts on Beaches. The plan is to put all these old machines to use when our studio space is ready, as most of our sounds are from these old synths.

The main goal is to keep on expressing ourselves through our music, establish a following online, connect with new fans and work up to performing our music live. The official music video for Coastal Signals will premiere on November 9th, 2022. Our sophomore single, Leap, will follow on December 1st, 2022.
