Australian Indie-folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ted held a mirror to the sad state of modern democracy in his latest psych-folk-meets dream-pop single, Revolution Then, which officially launched on October 21st.

The self-produced single, recorded in the up-and-coming artist’s home studio, is a chorally ambient, lyrically reflective release which permits you to slip back to 1789 to gain perspective as history unfolds to the evocative melodies.

The catharsis of the colourfully mellifluous instrumental framework consisting of guitars, bass, drums, sax and keys gently cradles you as you're soothed by the rich baroque imagery.

Ted said:

“The song is loosely based on the French Revolution. I was inspired by some more recent political events which occurred in the US. I wanted to convey this in a way that was like telling an old story to a child, like in a nursery rhyme.”

Amelia Vandergast, Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“Ted’s streaming stats are definitive proof you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. The artfully quiescent call for sense to coalesce with postulation resonates like a semi-lucid lullaby, affirming enlightenment doesn’t always need to be synonymous with anger and despair. Sometimes, it is just enough to be on the right side of history.”

About

As a saxophonist and a self-taught guitarist from 14, Ted started writing music in his final year of high school. His first single, dilapidated, was a lo-fi recording on his phone. After graduating from university and making enough money from his job as a Radiographer, he purchased recording equipment and recorded his official debut single, Spiral, which was released in 2022.

He continues to work full-time as a radiographer and works on music in his home studio in Bendigo in his spare time. Hype is steadily amassing around the artist who takes influence from Nirvana, The Beatles and RHCP for his dreamy indie pop textures, which incidentally feign reminiscence to Grandaddy, Elliott Smith and Radiohead. His most popular single to date Porcelin Faces has racked up over 59k streams on Spotify alone.
