South London-residing hip hop artist LKS stayed true to his expressively uninhibited ethos in his latest self-produced single, Say My Peace. The third single from the independent rapper hit the airwaves on February 22nd to illuminate the raw emotion creativity can conjure.

The beats, which came as a courtesy from FYKSEN, set the mellow introspective tone, while LKS lyrically digs deep in the trenches of creative duality, excavating the self-sabotaging tendencies and unearthing how the prospect of mortality can realign perspectives of success.

LKS said:

“I wanted to write about that weird state of mind where you feel you have no limits, but at the same time, you suppress your success and accept the fate that comes with disregarding your talent. It’s also about the inability to grasp an amazing moment tight enough to live it to the fullest.

Ultimately, you end up with nothing and have to go through the process of accepting that too, but in the end, we can’t take our material world or success into the next life; everything we have amassed will be in the hands of others or cast away in the same vein as my disregard for my talents.”

Amelia Vandergast, the Executive Editor at A&R Factory said:

“LKS penned one of the sincerest windows into the artistic process with Say My Peace. The arrestingly deep introspection pulls you into the intimately expressive core of the melodic indie hip-hop hit.”

About

I always liked putting my thoughts down into the written word; I started writing lyrics at 11; as I grew up, I realised how much I learnt about myself by internalising all my ideas, emotions, and experiences.

Eventually, I bought some cheap equipment and wrote thousands of unreleased songs that will never hit the airwaves – I was never looking for acceptance, fame, or music. My motivation will always be to bring feelings to life. In my view, if that is achieved, it is a successful song before anyone has ever heard it. I always like my music to speak for itself; I never want to tell the punchline of my life before anyone has heard the set-up.

Following the release of Say My Peace, I will drop a new single every month until the release of my new project, which will drop in the Spring.
