THE SONG IS THE TITLE TRACK FROM HIS NEW EP, DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 2

"A slow-building, electronica-fused confessional, echoing Massive Attack and fellow bristolians, Portishead. It’s individual, focused and manages to capture the internalised contemplating of the artist in a manner that isn’t just accessible, but gorgeously so.” - TMRW Magazine

“A cut that incorporates the heavy bass and twinkling piano keys that were a mainstay of tracks from the likes of Portishead in the 90s, but is more uplifting, pop-like, and less fragile than those that came before. It’s a swirling journey back home after a night on the dancefloor” The Blue Walrus

“Soothing, introspective, and mellowed out fare” - Clash Magazine

“Dark and brooding...elegant and deliciously gentle…you’ll be having it on repeat for hours” - Mytacism Music

Rob Bravery has revealed the video for his new song ‘You Take Half’. The song is taken from a new EP of the same name, which will be released on September 2 via Insanity / Sony Music. Watch the video here.

The new EP contains 4 new songs, which the Bristolian singer/songwriter wrote and produced with Liam Howe (FKA Twigs, Lana Del Rey). Howe was also a member of legendary trip hop band Sneaker Pimps.

‘You Take Half’ take elements of the electronic sounds synonymous with acts like Sneaker Pimps and their contemporaries including Bristol’s own Portishead and Massive Attack, and fuses it with Rob’s already idiosyncratic songwriting style. The song is  partly about the struggle to succeed, while remaining true to yourself. Rob said: “It’s tricky to get where you want to go without compromising in some way, shape or form. I don’t want to head there in a compromised fashion. It’s vitally important for everything to be what I think it should be.”

The new EP follows the release of 2015’s ‘Esque’: an eclectic, soulful, and sometimes melancholy collection of songs; largely demos and one-off recordings. Despite not being an album ‘proper’, it received critical acclaim, including a 4 star review in Q, and multiple plays on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6, all boosting Rob’s profile. It was an important part of his journey from self-financed struggle. Now signed to to a major label, his new material takes the next step, moving things forward dramatically again, and he’s keen to set the record straight.

“‘Esque’ was me trying to write in so many different styles it’s almost schizoid,” he laughs, “This time I’ve honed in on who I really am as an individual. I’m in a position, for the first time, that I’m not completely struggling financially, and I can afford decent equipment to realise my sound. It’s completely me.”
