"Zsela has one of those arresting voices that stops you dead in your tracks and leaves you choking on air that you inhaled too quickly." - HIGHSNOBIETY

"Zsela has a voice that makes your whole body feel it's being wrung of emotions like a wet towel. It's a voice that summons demons and heartache... her intonation at once wayward and soothing. Live, her voice is almost startling, low and steady, yet a reminder of how fleeting it all is." - CULTURED MAGAZINE

"Zsela has a transfixing voice that follows an anachronistic folky-funk tune, like a from-the-gut version of Joni Mitchell and Joan Armatrading. The 23-year-old has been bringing her remixed take on old-school vocals to downtown New York recently, rendering onlookers silent. Her powerful stage presence is almost to be expected." - VOGUE

Rising star and creative force Zsela has earned a name for herself and industry buzz for her captivating live performances in legendary spaces.

The covers as well as the forthcoming EP feature musical accompaniment by longtime collaborator Daniel Aged. Her acapella rendition of Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' won over crowds on both coasts, first at MoMA PS1, then on tour supporting Cat Power and Angel Olsen, and most recently at Billboard's Grammy party. Today, Zsela shares a new collection of live covers since her debut in 2019. The three songs include Talk Talk's "I Believe In You," performed at the historic Joe's Pub in New York, where international talents like Amy Winehouse and Adele made their US debuts.

Zsela also gloriously covers Nina Simone's classic "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," at Zebulon Cafe with a full band arrangement and Tim Buckley's "Song To The Siren", which she sang in early 2020 at The Whitney Museum of Art, alongside harpist Marilu Donovan and Daniel Aged on bass.

These recordings exist as a sonic mood board for Zsela; they embody her diverse musical influences and effortless modern takes on the classics, much like the artist herself.

Talk Talk "I Believe In You" - Joe's Pub in NYC M
"I've always been so inspired by Mark Hollis. If you haven't listened yet he has one self-titled solo album which was his last release before he died that really changed my life (the song "A Life (1895-1915)" especially). I chose to cover his song "I Believe In You" a month after hearing of his passing as a tribute."

Nina Simone "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" - Zebulon in LA
"It's never happened to me before where something really personal has triggered a visceral response to cover a specific song. Maybe that sounds corny as hell but the lyrics just really hit at the time and made me feel very understood."

Tim Buckley "Song To The Siren" - The Whitney Museum
"Daniel had sent me the John Frusciante version of "Song To The Siren" saying I need to cover it. I had never heard his version before and couldn't stop listening. When we decided to have a harp for the Whitney performance it seemed really fitting to end with this ballad."

Alongside this new collection of covers out today, Zsela recently shared the news of her debut EP, Ache of Victory, with the incandescent single "For Now". Last year, with only two songs independently released under her name, "Noise" and "Earlier Days," Zsela staked her claim as an artist to watch in 2020 with heralded praised in music, art and fashion worlds alike, earning notable acclaim from the New York Times, Pitchfork, Vogue, iD, High Snobiety, W Magazine, Wonderland, New York Magazine's The Cut and more. Zsela also remembers the legend Bill Withers by shining a light on her first ever recording, Withers' "Grandma's Hands" which she recorded with her father for a collection of soul songs he released for children.

Ache of Victory will be available for streaming and purchase worldwide on April 24th, 2020
