Mick Fleetwood’s star-studded celebration of the music of his former Fleetwood Mac bandmate, Peter Green, has shot into the Official UK Albums Chart at number three after an overwhelming reaction from fans.

The high chart entry is highly unusual for a live tribute album. The Mick Fleetwood & Friends Celebrate The Music of Peter Green And The Early Days of Fleetwood Mac concert took place at the London Palladium in February 2020, just weeks before the first coronavirus lockdown, and including contributions from Christine McVie, Neil Finn, Noel Gallagher, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) and Kirk Hammett (Metallica) among others.

Sadly, Peter Green passed away in July 2020.

Peter Stack, BMG EVP Global Catalogue Recordings said, “This has been a passion project for Mick Fleetwood and we are delighted to have been able to work with him and his manager Carl Stubner to realise his vision. The response has been overwhelming.”

Internationally the album has shipped more than 40,000 copies in six different formats from a seven disc €139 super deluxe box set to a €12 CD.

In January 2021 BMG announced it had acquired Mick Fleetwood’s interests in Fleetwood Mac’s recordings.
