BMG songwriters contributed to a whopping 13 songs that were honored at the 2022 BMI London Awards on October 3. The prestigious award recognizes top UK and European songwriters, composers, and music publishers of the most-performed songs of the previous year.

Six songs from BMG songwriters were honored in the 'Pop' category including Andrew Meecham and Dean Meredith for 'Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)' performed by Elton John and Dua Lipa, P2J for 'Essence' performed by Wizkid feat. Tems and again for 'Essence (Remix)' additionally featuring Justin Bieber, Martijn Tienus Konijnenburg for 'A-O-K' performed by Tai Verdes feat. 24kGoldn, Roshwita Bacha for 'Family Ties' performed by Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar, and John Reid for 'Friday' performed by Riton and Nightcrawlers feat. Mufasa & Hypeman.

The BMI London Awards also recognize iconic songs that have reached at least a million broadcast performances by UK and European songwriters and publishers. These are referred to as 'Million-Air Awards' and in 2022, were awarded to seven songs by BMG songwriters.

Honored in the prestigious '9 Million Performances Award' was 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' by BMG songwriters Roland Orzabal and Ian Stanley performed by Tears For Fears. The pair were also honored for the song 'Shout' with 5 million plays also performed by Tears For Fears.

Further honored in the 'Million-Air Award' series were Roger Waters with 'Another Brick In The Wall' (8m) performed by Pink Floyd, Gerry Rafferty with 'Stuck In The Middle With You' (7m) performed by Stealers Wheel, Bruno Mars with 'Uptown Funk' (6m) performed by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars, and Tom Barnes with 'Someone You Loved' performed by Lewis Capaldi and Kimberly Rew with 'Walking On Sunshine' performed by Katrina and the Waves coming in at 4 million plays each.

On the night, James 'YAMI' Bell was also awarded for his contribution to 'The Business' performed by Tiesto. This award also celebrated Bell joining BMI.
