Shy FX returns with Soon Come: videoReleased July 29th 2013 Having cemented his name in both the underground and mainstream folk-law, Shy continues to maintain his legendary status, whilst staying true to his art form and at the forefront of eclectic dance music. ‘Soon Come’ is the first release from Shy's eagerly anticipated forthcoming album, ‘Cornerstone’, and is a new musical direction for the talented DJ and producer - Shy FX is making reggae music and it never sounded sweeter. Already picking up specialist support from reggae legend David Rodigan on BBC Radio 1Xtra with further key spins from Annie Mac, B.Traits, Toddla T and MistaJam, 'Soon Come' has all the makings of becoming the anthem of carnival. Shy has gone back to his roots, creating a reggae record that links his celebrated production skills to a retro sound. His grandfather, Count Shelly - the king reggae sound man, was the founder of one the most notorious sound systems in North London. Record producer and owner of his own record shop and label, he was responsible for importing the freshest Jamaican reggae sounds to the UK in the 60's & 70's. It is with this foundation, this cornerstone that Shy FX turns his skills to making reggae music. Shy FX crashed the British pop charts in mid-1994 with "Original Nuttah", one of the most infectious Ragga-Jungle anthems of all time and quickly became one of the UK’s most respected producers. Almost immediately after its release, the single ignited dance clubs, flew out of the stores, and eventually made the British charts. Shy has gone onto release over 350 releases including the chart smash ‘Shake Your Body’ (which reached No. 7 in the UK Charts). Shy went on to produce a number of original productions for Dizzee Rascal on his 2007 ‘Maths & English’ album, and his new ‘Tongue N Cheek’ LP, not to mention production credits for two top 20 singles from Wiley and Yasmin. Recently Shy was asked by long-term friend, DJ Fresh to re-edit his track ‘Gold Dust’ to include on his latest album ‘Nextlevelism’. Featuring vocals from Ms Dynamite, ‘Gold Dust’ (Shy FX re-edit) quickly became one of the most downloaded tracks from the album and caused such a buzz that Fresh decided to re-release a ‘Gold Dust’ EP. Shy’s edit was A-Listed on Radio 1 for a massive seven weeks helping it to achieve gold disc status (400,000 UK sales). In 2005, Shy launched his ‘Digital Soundboy’ Recording Company His vision for the label is simple: “I wanted to set up a new platform for good music, not necessarily genre specific. A good label doesn’t need to be about one artist or sound. For us it’s simply all about the music”. For those of us that grew up in the 90‘s and were lucky enough to witness what a huge effect this man had on the music scene, it really does feel like ‘Soon Come’ can’t come soon enough.
